IC Information
Name: Selphie Tilmitt
Canon: Final Fantasy VIII
Gender: Female
Age: 18 - she will have just celebrated her 18th birthday.
History: Selphie's in-game history can be found here:
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Selphie_Tilmitt

Personality: Selphie is a bubbly, sweet, happy go lucky young woman. She's ever optimistic, always ready to cheer up those around her. However, for as much as Selphie is excitable and happy, she can be equally as stubborn. Selphie has a hard head, and a whole load of determination. This can be great, especially on a mission with the other SeeDs, but it can also be a nuisance or maybe even annoying to some people. But Selphie always means well, and always puts the needs of others before her own. She's a hyperactive ball of energy to be around.

That said, sometimes the happy exterior can be hiding something deeper. Selphie might be a hard girl to upset, but that doesn't mean that there's so much more going on with her personality. Even if she is upset, she's not likely to show it. If she does show her true feelings to someone, that'd signify a significance of relationship. Mostly, Selphie is prone to loneliness. An orphan, Selphie is used to being moved around from one place to the other, and she's learned to be quick about making friends. All the same, the concept of not knowing anyone frightens her, and the idea of being abandoned by her friends horrifies her. Selphie survives by her relationships with others.

Due to the side effects of being equipped with a GF when she was too young, Selphie lost her memories. They were built upon when meeting Irvine, and throughout the four discs of the game. However, her memory can still be a little fuzzy. However, when it is, it frightens her. Selphie hates the idea that she might forget things and, even worse and tied with loneliness, she fears that people might even forget her.

Selphie's a fighter too. As a kid, she liked to play war, and had an unhealthy obsession with fireworks and fires. That persisted throughout her childhood, and exists still in her late teenage years. Fighting is her job, but it's also her reaction to the bad things in her life. Because she doesn't like to show upset, she'll tend to react to fear and sadness with violence, or hard bursts of energy.

Powers/Abilities: Selphie's a SeeD, and skilled with nunchaku, Guardian Forces, and magic. She has the ability to draw magic from opponents. Also, when particularly frustrated, she tends to use magic unawares, almost by accident, as a reaction to how she's feeling. Selphie has the ability to use all kinds of elemental magic. Selphie can also play guitar, and she's a really good singer!

Her strengths include: magic, nunchaku skills, musical ability, and great at boosting moral.

Her weaknesses include: loneliness, poor memory, and cake.

Keepsakes/Mementos: Selphie would be at a loss without her nunchaku, so that would be a must! An acoustic guitar would be good too - for keeping her company, and for making new friends. Some Triple Triad cards would remind her of home, and would be fun to share with others. Perhaps there'd even be a small framed photo of her and her friends at a party together.

So this was how it would end... The final battle.

Fighting alongside her best friends, the only family she'd ever had, this wasn't the worst way to go.

“Selphie!”

As she knocked onto her knees, scraping the skin against the hard floor, she was aware of someone shouting her name. The blast had hit her so hard that it made everything seem blurry, sounds and voices dim.

“Selphie!”

She blinked her eyes, hard, shaking her head, trying to focus. That was the number one rule. Stay focused, Selphie. Stay focused and get through this. As the sounds became clearer, Selphie knew she couldn't stay on her knees. She had to get it. It pained her, a rush of dizzying colours inside her head. But she had to keep going. For her friends.

Selphie dragged herself up to stand as tall as she could, but one knee refused to straighten, her shoulders sagging under the weight of the inevitable. But not yet. Not yet. Ultimecia was getting steadily weaker, conjuring greater and more desperate spells. While the others attacked at her, exhausted but fighting full force, Selphie knew she had to keep them healed, before it was too late for all of them.

“Squall! Watch out!”

Her friend drew leapt to the side, dodging a blow just at the last crucial moment. Selphie breathed a sigh of relief, watching as he prepared himself for another attack. They were relentless, all of them, but as Selphie scanned her friends, fellow SeeDs, she knew that she was going to be the first to crumble. So she had to keep them going while she still existed. It wasn't about her own life or death, but in succeeding in keeping her loved ones going.

Ultimecia loomed before her, hideous and terrifying, a monster of a creature with more power that Selphie could even comprehend: time compression, changing the world forever. That wasn't something Selphie was going to stand for, not after everything she'd been through. Her protection spells were wearing thin, and Selphie had a choice to make.

To protect herself, to exist only vaguely, unable to contribute to the fight? Or to use all of her remaining energy, the last sparks of her reserves, to attack, to finish this battle?

Selphie felt her lips twitch into a small, hopeful smile as she realised the answer to her question. And it really wasn't all that hard to figure out. She could feel her energy ebbing, but what was left of her power was crackling under her skin, the possibilities of what she was capable of growing even stronger.

Limit Break.

That's what they called them, and as she raised her weapon, Strange Vision, above her head, she understood why. Selphie's entire being was currently pushing to its limit and, this time, it really would break her. She had nothing more to give.

“We did it, everyone! We really did it!”

Selphie smiled, certain that her friends would pull through, that she could help to keep them surviving, to get rid of Ultimecia. No, it truly wasn't such a bad way to go.

“Peace! And Love!”

Darkness swirled fast around her, spots of colour and bursts of light gathering quickly. A field of green, two butterflies fluttering in the breeze, a terrific flash of white.

Yes, Selphie thought. This really was The End.

Mindset: Life as a soldier means that death is always a very real possibility, and one that Selphie had prepared for all her life. Her philosophy is to enjoy life, to live each day to the max, as though it might be the last. Selphie will remember her death, and though it will be a huge disappointment to her, she will know that she didn't die in vain, and that she lived the best life that she could have. Even in death, Selphie will believe that happiness is important, and that every moment should be enjoyable or worthwhile. She will think about her living life from time to time, and she will truly miss her friends, but she will continue in the hope that her death has made living possible for them. She guesses she'd better get busy making some new dead friends!
G̶̶l̨͡i̵͢t̷c͝͠h̕é͠s̷̷͡: Selphie is terrified of being alone, and being abandoned by her loved ones. An orphan, Selphie always wished for a family, and her friends soon take that place. But without anyone who knows her? Or cares about her? She'd be a wreck. She's also frightened and disturbed at the idea of losing her memories again. She had been gaining flashbacks of her childhood, but the idea that she doesn't remember much of her life is something that really makes her anxious. While she's sure that won't happen again most of the time, there's still that creeping fear that she might blank out again.
Selphie also takes great enjoyment from being a fit and healthy person. She wouldn't take kindly to any really dehabilitating injuries or illnesses as she hates feeling weak and useless. Even worse would be the loss of one of her senses. She'd feel powerless if she were blind, lonely if she couldn't speak or hear, and if she thought that she'd never gain her senses back, then Selphie would feel a real sense of complete worthlessness. Being a soldier is her entire life, so anything that means she couldn't fight, or wouldn't be fit or healthy would disturb her.
